The Manager Benefits/Compensation/HRIS is responsible for implementing the employee benefit and compensation programs for Roche Bros. Supermarkets and managing the HRIS system in conjunction with the Controller. The incumbent will lead the design, planning and implementation of benefit and compensation programs. The incumbent will measure the impact of benefit and compensation programs against the company’s objectives and insure compliance with all federal and state laws regarding benefits and compensation. The incumbent will manage the HRIS system in terms of the reporting needs for the company and data processing. This position will report directly to the Director, Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Handles the implementation and administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance, wellness and other plans.
Analyzes and evaluates services, coverage, and options available through insurance companies to determine programs that best meet the needs of the company and our associates.
Recommends benefit plan changes to management.
Serves as company contact with third party vendors providing benefits to associates.
Analyzes participation and utilization for all benefits on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Analyzes benefits experience for cost-control and risk-assessment factors.
Uses data to monitor trends and recommend educational initiatives, benefit plan changes, vendor changes, etc.
Maintains knowledge of and analyzes government regulations, benefit program trends, and prevailing practices among similar organizations.
Ensures compliance of benefits administration with federal and state laws.
Ensures necessary plan documents are in place and government-mandated disclosures are distributed to eligible associates. Oversees development of informative materials from vendors, ensures availability of adequate materials and develops appropriate Company materials in-house.
Oversees benefit enrollment process, including monthly enrollment meetings and annual open enrollment meetings, to ensure associates receive accurate information and enrollments are completed on a timely basis.
Directs maintenance of employee benefits data in HRIS system. For example builds life events and open enrollments as necessary.
Prepares regular submissions to the digital board team to keep associates up-to-date on benefit changes, upcoming events and informative wellness information.
Researches and responds to complex questions from associates and leaders regarding interpretation of benefits plans, including eligibility, covered services and exclusions.
As needed, investigates and resolves problems involving delivery of and payment for services by contacting health care professionals and other service providers, benefit plan providers, and associates.
Develops, implements and evaluates wellness and health care educational programs to promote healthy lifestyles and changes in health care utilization and compliance.
Develops, implements and evaluates financial education programs to help employees understand financial concepts, develop financial goals and prepare for retirement.
Analyzes company compensation policies in relation to government wage and hour regulations, prevailing rates for similar jobs in comparable industries, and recommends changes as appropriate to establish and maintain competitive rates.
Analyzes organizational pay practices and makes recommendations for salary changes to ensure equity.
Works with Directors and Merchandisers to ensure accurate job descriptions for positions in the organization. Conducts job analysis to determine appropriate salary level according to compensation guidelines and pay policy.
Assists in the implementation of special compensation programs or incentive systems for all associates or for specific groups to support the organization’s objectives.
Manages the reporting needs of the department and Store Management. Including creating and building reports, managing the monthly reporting needs, and assisting in analyzing the data.
Works closely with the Controller in the management of the HRIS system and ensuring data integrity.
Partner closely with HR, Store Management and Operations in areas of compensation and benefits and reporting.
Act as change agent and key enabler to support various HR projects and programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in related area preferred
CCP/CCB, or CEBS preferred.
At least 7-10 years of experience in benefits administration compensation planning and design, and HRIS reporting
Proven work experience building benefit and wellness programs
Proven work experience building and managing a compensation structure
Knowledge of benefits administration, including Section 125 regulations, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, IRS, FLSA, and state regulations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
Strong math skills
Ability to research complex questions
Ability to conduct complex analysis of claims
Advanced computer and database skills
Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced proficiency in Excel
Experience in HRIS systems
Experience with Ultimate Software preferred
