The Developmental Therapeutics Core (DTC) of Northwestern University has an opening for a Research Specialist. This is one-year term, non-exempt, research staff position, renewable annually upon satisfactory performance, funding availability and mutual agreement. This position reports to the Assistant Director of DTC.
DTC is a core facility within the Center for Developmental Therapeutics (CDT). CDT advances drug development through the preclinical and early stages of clinical testing. The Center brings these discoveries to the attention of potential commercial, private investors and partners. DTC’s services include a full suite of fee-for-service tumor biology and translational support services including in vitro and in vivo assessment of drug activity and mechanism of action, exploratory drug development activities such as pharmacokinetics and toxicology, consultation and project management and clinical trial support in a fast-paced environment.
Run in-vitro based assay (screening drugs) such as NCI-based assay or MTT liked assays.
Execute molecular biology assays such as Western, PCR-testing, immunoprecipitation.
Effectively manage multiple in-house studies (minimum 4 studies at once) and produce reports in a timely manner to achieve targets.
Ensure assigned SOPs are current and accurately reflected in executed studies/projects.
Exhibit skills as necessary to ensure study activities conducted by multiple groups are executed smoothly including subcutaneous and orthotopic implantation, intracranial inoculation using stereotaxic equipment, treatment (SC, IP, IV), blood collections according to protocol.
Manage the blanket IACUC protocols in DTC.
Master’s degree in basic science, biology, pharmacology and 5 years practical lab/bench experiences.
Self-motivated, well-organized, willing to work in a fast pace lab environment.
