ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERSHIPS (OPP) BRIEFINGS AND COMMUNICATIONS , Resource Development (RD) , to work with development staff and Institute colleagues to manage and independently execute and oversee all senior officer and presidential briefings and communication contributing to philanthropic support ($5M+) for MIT. Will be accountable for the quality of all briefings, senior officer correspondence, and other communications and stewardship materials; independently manage the highest-level projects and oversee and review all work conducted by the development associate and presidential writer; create, develop, and execute OPP's most complex customized donor communications strategies in a rapid turn-around and goal-driven environment; and independently ensure the preparation of all briefing materials (meeting goals, talking points, and high-level summary emails) for any presidential engagement on behalf of RD. Will also be responsible for managing staff, including hiring, orientation, training and development, workflow, and performance management; and developing a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least two years' development experience; some supervisory experience; excellent writing and editing skills, particularly related to producing and editing highly technical and scientifically rich content, ranging from comprehensive proposals and donor/prospect briefs to marketing copy; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills; ability to prioritize assignments, work under tight time constraints, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects; self-motivation; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; meticulous attention to detail; excellent judgment with sensitive/confidential information; ability to initiate and manage projects and keep multiple simultaneous work streams on track and within deadlines; and tact and diplomacy while interacting with senior leadership, faculty, and program staff across the Institute.
