Macalester College seeks to hire an Associate Director of Admissions Visits to join the Admissions team. The Associate Director of Admissions Visits is responsible for designing, managing, and evaluating the daily Admissions visit program. A successful individual in this role will develop programming that aligns with the office's strategic objectives by executing programs that successfully introduce prospective students and families to Macalester's distinctive features. This position reports to the Director of Admissions and serves as a strategic partner to many in the division and within the College.
Manages daily visits program. Oversees its budget, collaborates with office colleagues in the planning & implementation of programs, and coordinates with Research Associate to evaluate success. Works with Associate Director of Operations to monitor Information Session caps. Develops a plan for additional space and staffing on peak visit days
Collaborates with the Director of Admissions to create strategic vision for the daily visits program (M-F visits and select Saturdays). Documents strategic objectives, and partners with Research Associate to establish metrics and evaluate success. Acts as primary project manager to develop, and periodically update, information session content, tour content, and other content associated with daily visits to Macalester.
Hires, supervises, and manages student employees responsible for help in planning and implementing the daily program, including tour guides, student hosts, and other students ambassadors. Partners with other stakeholders when appropriate.
Co-leads the Hospitality sub-committee along with the Associate Director, Coordinator of Admissions Events. Works closely with Director of Recruitment and Admissions, and others within the division and College. Committee creates, monitors, and evaluates the hospitality plan that is geared toward meeting the division's strategic objectives.
Actively engages in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion to increase individual capacity to support institutional changes that create and sustain a more welcoming and inclusive environment across the Macalester Community.
Completes special projects as assigned by the Director of Recruitment and Admissions including specific independent projects or work with other staff members requiring significant independent work and initiative in planning, directing and evaluating all of the activities that comprise each particular program.
Bachelor's degree, preferably from a four-year, private liberal arts college. 3-5 years of direct experience in admissions, or 3-5 years of equivalent professional experience and a strong commitment to the liberal arts experience, is required; 5 or more years preferred.
Strong writing and speaking skills, the ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team, and knowledge of and experience working with communities of color, are also required.
Knowledge of best practices in event planning, strategy, and execution, and enrollment more broadly, is required.
Must provide strategic direction to the admissions events plan, an expectation which requires analytical abilities.
Position requires the mastery of project management skills to be successful in planning and implementing admissions events.
Must be comfortable utilizing technology, including Slate (student management software), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Mail, Calendar, and Documents.
Candidates will also need to demonstrate an ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view in order to foster an inclusive work environment.
