Northwestern University is seeking a temporary Research Manager for the Evanston campus.
Temporary Job Description:
Manage the administrative, communications, marketing, competitive research, data management and data analysis tasks for a major initiative within Kellogg responsible for the school’s programming on data analytics, customer centricity, trust, and related topical areas. Commonly performed tasks include but are not limited to data entry, data maintenance, data analysis, qualitative research, report generation, letter drafting, communication planning and drafting, marketing plans, project management, internal coordination, digital asset management, and external relationship management.
In addition to these regular tasks, employee must understand the competitive and internal landscape related to the topical areas, and establish systems to capture, measure, and communicate this information. Support the strategical positioning of Kellogg’s portfolio of activities on relevant topics externally and internally.
Program Management and Coordination
Project manages large scale and/or complex events and activities, coordinating with other support staff to ensure that event details including communication, venues, presenters, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments and technology are arranged and completed in an appropriate and timely manner.
Manages complex scheduling arrangements involving multiple parties and conferences, international travel, etc.
Competitive, Industry and Internal Research and Strategic Planning Support
The employee will support efforts to seek out and assemble in usable form the intellectual landscape around the strategic initiative. They will also support the creation and maintenance of systems that facilitate knowledge capture, analysis and dissemination of the competitive landscape for each of the four strategic initiatives. The audience for these projects includes initiative faculty and administrative directors, and faculty teaching within the initiative. Additionally, the employee will become familiar with focus areas of the initiative and respond to prioritized requests for specific, targeted research projects.
Administers & maintains existing strategic plans
Participates with area/unit senior staff in the conceptualization, development and presentation of materials
Data Maintenance and Analysis
The employee will support the creation, maintenance, and analysis of data that track initiative performance activities and external relationships. Utilize spreadsheets and various institutional data resources (salesforce, google analytics, etc.) to gather, record, and analyze data. The employee will be responsible for updates, quality control, and the support of report generation.
Communications, Marketing, and Relationship Management
The employee will help with the preparation of reports and communications to ensure insights are disseminated and understood by stakeholders, including administration and faculty, and external stakeholders
Compiles, distributes, and tracks communications including, but not limited to, weekly schedule emails, timely announcements, onboarding, event RSVPs, surveys, electives, graduation.
The employee will plan and prepare marketing campaigns for events, engagements, and the overall portfolio, utilizing the initiatives bank of relationship data to strategize and execute
Coordinate with the school’s various departments to ensure that the initiative’s work is being amplified and optimally represented across the school’s broader social and digital assets
Be the first point of contact for multiple external partners and stakeholders, ranging from alumni, to major organizations, to event partners, to engaged senior executives. Plan outreach
Performs other duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
Strong writing skills.
High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
Diligent and can work independently.
Experience working with confidential information.
Flexibility, adaptability in a fast paced environment.
MS Office suite 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
