The mission of the Office of Online Learning at The University of Texas at San Antonio is to promote quality online education and resources available for faculty and student success. The Office of Online Learning is seeking to fill a vacant Senior Instructional Designer position to lead the instructional design and development team in the design of online courses for programs and certificates. The Senior Instructional Designer is a professional with extensive experience in online learning, preferably in higher education contexts, with a strong understanding of instructional design models, learning theories, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
The successful candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design or a Technology related field from an accredited institution; 4 years of experience working with instructional/educational technology and on-line course design.
A Master’s Degree or higher in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology or related field; 4 years of experience working with instructional/educational technology and on-line course design.
Excellent project management and organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex topics concisely; conceptually and intuitively understand how people learn; able to design accessible and inclusive learning environments; knowledgeable of ADA and FERPA compliance; understand related fields—usability and experience design, information design, communications and new technologies; exceptional customer service skills with ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders; teaching experience.
