Minnesota State University Moorhead's Livingston Lord Library seeks a service-oriented, collaborative, and flexible Electronic Resources Librarian. We seek someone who will support the library's mission to sustain research, support curricula, teach critical thinking, advance information literacy skills, encourage reading, advocate intellectual freedom, and enhance thoughtful, informed citizenship. Broadly speaking, the Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the Libraries' licensed e-resources throughout their life cycle. More specifically, the position responsibilities are:
* Manage electronic resource access, including access to databases, journals, streaming video, and e-books, primarily through our Electronic Resource Management System, A-Z Journals list, link resolver, proxy server, Ex Libris's PRIMO/ALMA, and the university's institutional repository (Digital Commons) * Coordinate support and troubleshooting for any technical electronic access issues that arise * Oversee the tracking, management, and provision of electronic resource usage statistics and overlap analysis * Communicate with team members and other library personnel about electronic access issues * Manage projects related to this position * Mentor, train, and supervise a library technician * Serve as a member of the Technical Services, OER, and Assessment teams * Participate in assigned committees * Read and interpret license agreements to ensure compliance and manage the Electronic Resource Management System * Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field. * Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance abilities. * Contribute to student growth and development. * Responsibility for the lifecycle of the library's eResources: implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and customizing for the best user experience
All librarians fully participate in liaison activities for assigned academic departments, such as collection development, advanced reference, and instruction. Librarians also participate in general reference/research assistance (including some nights and weekends) and in faculty governance of the library.
* Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies program or foreign equivalent
* Experience managing electronic resources and/or troubleshooting resource access * Detailed understanding of current models, practices, and tools used by academic libraries for the acquisition and management of e-resources * Demonstrated aptitude and experience with relevant information technology, such as integrated library systems (e.g. Ex Libris ALMA/PRIMO), open-url resolvers, and Microsoft Office including proficiency with Excel * Good problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills * Ability to work in a collaborative team environment * Strong service orientation
* Second subject Master's degree * Recent experience with institutional repositories * Recent experience with networking technologies (both wired and wireless) * Knowledge of best practices for discoverability and/or web accessibility to library resources * Knowledge of standards, protocols and structures (e.g., openURL/z39.50, central authentication services, and electronic data interchange (EDI)) * Knowledge of database design * Knowledge of markup languages (e.g., HTML, XML) and software (e.g., link resolver, metasearch, data collection, and ERMS) * Experience with:
Creating documentation and reports and generating statistics to assess collections
Providing reference, instruction, and collection development liaison duties in an academic library
Supervision of classified staff
* Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment
* Two years of current experience managing electronic resources and/or troubleshooting resource access
