The Nursing Faculty at NHCC are at the forefront of excellence in nursing education. Faculty work in teams and use innovative approaches to deliver curriculum. A new bioscience and health careers center, including a new simulation center, opened in the fall of 2014. Primary teaching responsibilities include theory instruction and lab/clinical supervision.
Revision and development of instructional materials as well as assessment of student outcomes is assumed.
Participation in discipline, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings as well as continued professional development.
Flexible to teach day, evening and weekend sections.
Dedication to excellence in teaching and have the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community.
Will practice contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online instruction.
Ability to work with a diverse population of student learners is expected.
Availability to teach classes on campus, as well as clinical at off-campus sites. Hours include daytime and evenings with some courses hybrid.
Continue the professionalism of an active scholar, participate in departmental and campus-wide matters to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission.
Master's degree with a major in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing, or a nursing clinical specialty.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Current theory instruction and clinical experience in medical surgical desired.
Experience in online teaching or demonstrated willingness to learn and develop online courses.
Experience with learner outcomes assessment.
Demonstrated ability to educate adult learners, students of color, students with disabilities, and international students.
Working knowledge of alternative instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, podcasting, digital technology, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
The ability to learn new and adapt to changing technology in nursing education and nursing practice. Examples: Electronic health record, classroom technology such as interactive clickers, online testing software, and clinical simulation technology such as simulation manikins and their accompanying software.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the salary placement process as outlined in the bargaining unit agreement. Entry-level range is $44,199 - $64,871 for a nine-month academic year, plus excellent benefits.
Full-time, unlimited faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance (95% employer paid single premium or 90% employer paid family premium); life insurance; optional dental, short-and long-term disability and long-term care insurance; paid personal and sick leave; defined benefits and defined contribution (401(a) retirement plans); tuition waiver for employees and dependents; and optional 457 and 403(b) retirement savings plans.
Under the collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF), new faculty to the system receive a salary placement based on education and related experience after a job offer is accepted. The maximum salary at hire is $64,871 per academic year, depending on education and experience.
