Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Office of the Registrar at Iowa State University (ISU) in the Division of Student Affairs is seeking applicants for a Program Coordinator I. The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the coordinator of enhancements, updates and daily issues involving the Office of the Registrar systems, providing support for IT-related projects. Some examples include facilitating and communicating project priorities among Registrar, IT and academic partners, and managing various workflow projects that would involve transitioning processes from paper to electronic. The Program Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the Office of the Registrar and Information Technology Services. This person will interact with colleges, departments and other campus partners for IT-related projects. The Office of the Registrar is a leader in the use of technology to better serve students, faculty and staff. This position will coordinate technology opportunities for Office of the Registrar staff as well as others in the university community with the goal of improved service and efficiency. In addition, this position will act as the Office of the Registrar departmental network administrator and will provide, along with IT Customer Services, technological support for approximately 35 Office of the Registrar staff who are users of various computer applications. This position will be responsible for assessing and approving requests from university faculty and staff for access to student records and course offering information under the guardianship of the Registrar.
This position will provide website maintenance, development, and oversight for Office of the Registrar websites. Using the ISU template, the communications specialist will assist in conceptualization and implementation of design elements to improve current and new Office of the Registrar websites; determine that websites meet usability requirements and established ADA requirements; ensure compatibility with various platforms and monitors as well as ease of navigation. In addition, the project coordinator will monitor and update current websites as needed and/or requested by department staff.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, project management, and interpersonal skills; have the ability to analyze and document business processes and calmly and methodically work through technological issues in high pressure situations; and display excellent judgment in prioritization of competing projects and demands.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 6 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Work experience communicating technical information to end users.
Work experience in student systems in the areas of development, implementation, testing, use, maintenance, and enhancement.
Work experience that demonstrates ability to analyze and solve problems.
Work experience with data analysis and/or conversion.
Work experience implementing new processes or procedures.
Work experience with analyzing business processes and documenting processes.
Required to work all university commencement ceremonies coordinated by the Office of the Registrar.
