Director of Technology
The primary job of the Director of Technology is to provide support, leadership, and information to facilitate the integration of information technologies into the educational process and administrative functions of the school. The Director of Technology plans, coordinates and facilitates the installation, operation and maintenance of the computer network and telecommunication resources at the school; identifies long-term goals for the school; and develops and recommends a long-term strategy for meeting those goals. The Director of Technology may work with faculty on curricular development; plan and oversee teacher in-service days related to technology; and coordinates technology training for students.
This position will be a full time, exempt administrative position.
Timeline: Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Job responsibilities scheduled to begin July 1, 2019.
Manage the purchase, installation, support, and maintenance of the school’s computers, network, servers, printers, software, IoT, and telephone systems. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation.
Provide direct support for PowerSchool, PowerSchool Learning, Moodle, and Office 365. Work with other departments to support Blackbaud Financial Edge, Raiser’s Edge, Follett Destiny, Galaxy Control System, and other department specific software and services.
Develop and communicate policies and procedures for routine operations, backup, troubleshooting, and outage and disaster planning for the computers and network.
Manage user accounts and user access for school services.
Manage software and service acquisition. Monitor new applications and services to recommend appropriate packages for employee and student use.
Help to establish appropriate policies for technology use.
Recommend annual budget for technology, including maintenance costs, upgrades and training. Manage technology budget and long-range planning for school technology usage.
Provide information and support to faculty and staff. Recommend or provide training and development for faculty, staff, and students.
Serve on the administrative team to support the school’s mission, “Inspiring scholars, athletes, and artists to serve and lead others.”
Support and manage the school’s Technology Specialist.
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years’ experience in information technology including:
Expertise with Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems.
Expertise with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Experience with managing and deploying network switches, routers, and firewalls.
Ability to train end-users on technology systems.
Must have a strong attention to detail.
Ability to work closely with a wide range of people including students, faculty, and staff who
possess a wide variety of skills.
Proven ability to evaluate, plan, and implement strategic technology projects.
Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage projects and tasks with minimum oversight.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Passion for learning, especially new technologies.
The ideal candidate would have these additional qualifications:
Experience with PowerSchool or other student information systems.
Ability to write and maintain queries in SQL.
Experience with programming in C#, Python, VBScript, KiXtart, PowerShell, and/or similar
Experience managing digital phone systems.
Experience with "bring your own device" and school 1 to 1 programs.
Strong financial sense and experience with multi-year budgeting.
Sense of humor.
