Responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of bioinformatics, genomic data or data research project oriented work efforts. This position will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet assigned expectations.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs independent statistical genetic and genomic data science/big data research and activities for special projects.
Provides bioinformatics expertise, specifically informed by deep knowledge of human genetics, to faculty and staff of JH Genomics.
Uses expertise to lead the development of new services such as; cutting-edge scientific analysis pipelines; cloud-based, big data, computational genomics analysis platforms; data collaboration portals, etc.
Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately.
Coordinates any/all communication efforts to appropriate individuals. Team members will typically be assigned from other IT departments on a temporary basis, functional experts from different areas, and/or consultants/independent contractors.
Will manage one or more high profile/high impact projects considered to be of medium to high level complexity.
Minimum Qualifications (mandatory):
Required: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related field.
Required: Five (5) years of related IT experience, with some project management experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred: Masters degree in Statistical Genetics or Human Genetics or related field

The incumbent will be required to communicate regularly via telephone and face to face with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate and timely information in these settings. Ability to see and hear within normal parameters; lift, carry, move supplies, computers, etc. Ability to move about workspace.
