Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager.
In this role, the successful candidate The New York University School of Medicines Department of Population Health (DPH) is a dynamic environment of excellence, innovation and growth with faculty across a wide range of disciplines including behavioral and social sciences, epidemiology, health services research, evaluation, biostatistics, and medical ethics with a particular focus on health equity. DPH is leading an exciting 4-year initiative funded by the NIHs National Center for Advancing Translational Science (NCATS). The grant is co-led by Drs. Carolyn Berry, Division of Health and Behavior and Donna Shelley, Division of Comparative Effectiveness Research and Co-Director of the Section for Tobacco Alcohol and Drug Use in DPH. The goal of the NCATS study is to develop and validate a parsimonious tool that can be used to identify ways to improve care and patient outcomes in primary care practices. The NCATS project is large in scope and comprised of four distinct but related components: (1) a scoping review, (2) a Delphi study, (3) primary care practice site visits/interviews, and (4) development and validation of a measurement tool. The project is national in scope and involves leaders in the areas of health, healthcare, and research. The Project Manager will establish the necessary infrastructure, processes and policies to ensure the successful implementation and completion of the project. The Project Manager will work closely with key faculty and external partners and will be responsible for providing a broad range of complex project management across all aspects of the NCATS study.
Develop a project management system and carry out project management tasks to ensure grant progress.
Plan and facilitate all project meetings including coordinating times, developing agendas, distributing agendas/meeting materials, and taking and distributing meeting notes.
Liaise with all internal and external partners to sustain their continued engagement in project activities.
Oversee compliance with funding agencies and the IRB by ensuring required information is maintained and reported on a regular basis.
Oversee preparation of all budgets for the project (i.e. DPH budget, consultant budgets, subcontractor budgets etc.).
Track expenses and monitor budgets including salary allocations and expenses. Work with PIs and key personnel to make necessary changes and resolve issues.
Participate in the development of outreach materials, manage recruitment of study participants, and track and distribute participant incentives.
Participate in the development of publications and conference presentations, including conducting literature reviews and creating tables and other data visualizations.
Oversee select research staff, including scheduling, evaluation, ensuring roles and responsibilities are being carried out, and providing support for professional development activities.
Oversee planning of study activities as assigned.
Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a high degree of professional maturity, commitment to excellence, independence, flexibility, and initiative, and will possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals, teams and populations both internally and externally.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a 1. Master's degree or equivalent in public health, health care administration, public administration or related discipline. 2. Minimum 3-5 years experience in managing all aspects of a large-scale research study including budget tracking, grant reporting, and IRB submissions and updates is required. 3. Attention to detail is critical. 4. Evidence of highly effective project management. 5. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills. 6. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. 7. Effective verbal and written communication skills. 8. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and communicate effectively with individuals both internal and external to our team. 9. Comfort in the role of team leader and team member. 10. Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration. 11. Ability to make decisions independently. 12. Ability to manage time, multi task, and prioritize work. 13. Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems. 14. Ability to work well under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Competency using research related software such as Endnote and ATLAS.ti is desirable. 2. Interest in health services research, health care administration, or healthcare.
