The Indiana University School of Medicine Health Professions Programs, providing nationally recognized leadership in health professions education, research, and service and preparing an array of high-quality health care professionals in Indiana, has an opening for a Coordinator of Advising and Admissions. Ideal for someone with a service-focused attitude and strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, this position is responsible for all aspects of academic advising and career counseling for pre-health professions programs students.
Plays significant role in the Health Professions Programs with oversight of academic advising and the admissions process. Responsible for all aspects of academic advising and career counseling for pre-health professions programs students; monitoring pre-professional, admitted students’ academic progress (applying university and school standards); and overseeing the activities of the programs’ student organizations and student council. Responsible for the admissions process including initial review of all applications, a collaborative role in maintaining admissions database, correspondence with applicants and coordination of university requirements for admitted students. Responsible for developing recruitment materials; developing and maintaining a student recruitment and retention program for pre-health professions programs students at IUPUI; and coordinating student recruitment efforts at all IU campuses and other state colleges/universities. Serves as School’s primary social media coordinator.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and three years or related experience; or Master's degree and one year of experience.
Possess a knowledge of principles, methods and procedures for career counseling and guidance, knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality and interests, and learning and motivation. Active listening skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to problem solve, work with constant interruptions, manage multiple projects, analyze data, provide consultation and advice, evaluate information and make decisions.
