Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). This position is under the guidance of the Director, Architectural Project Management & Design Services, or Director, Engineering Project Management and Design Services. The Project Manager independently manages small to medium size renovation projects from inception to final completion.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Prepares design drawings and coordinates with Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical designers to create complete bid packages on smaller projects.
Designs, prepares and publishes complete bidding documents with estimates for small to medium scale alteration and renovation construction projects, both competitively bid and in-house construction.
Designs documents to be signed by the Director.
Manages small to medium size construction projects, coordinating design consultants, construction contractors, and interfacing among various user groups, maintenance staff, and other RU departments.
Coordinates and reviews architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire-protection and electrical designs for conformance with the University's design standards, reviews shop drawings during construction.
Develops and monitors project schedule and budget.
Prepares periodic status updates and reports, and monitors progress against established schedule.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
Minimum of five years of design/construction project management experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be familiar with all aspects of the design process, be able to direct the work of other team members, evaluate options, and make sound decision.
Must be able to draw/draft manually as well as on latest computer design programs.
Must have a good understanding of management of small to medium size construction projects.
Must be experienced in working independently with clients to develop creative design solutions and be able to implement the plan
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Ideally the candidate will be working toward obtaining professional licensure in New Jersey
