The Office of Information Technology seeks a Web Designer to assist the Website Solutions team complete the migration of Ohio University websites to a new content management system. In this role, you will solve a variety of unique web design problems and have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of customers across campus. You will work with a dynamic team of web developers, who will implement your designs. Your designs will be viewed by millions of visitors annually!
Duties include: Collaborating with clients to understand website goals, considering user experience and information architecture, to create website design solutions that are usable by all audiences in accordance with University branding standards Using current practices to design visual solutions for a wide variety of website graphic needs within University branding standards Reviewing work of others to ensure designs adhere to University branding standards Learning and applying ADA section 508 accessibility standards to all work Communicating clearly with clients across campus, the Creative Services team and the Website Solutions team to coordinate solutions for clients with digital design needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication or related field and 1 year of experience as a Web Designer, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite of applications, HTML, CSS, and Content Management Systems, preferably in a University setting.
Candidate must demonstrate artistic talent, knowledge and skills of design principles and information architecture.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills are a must.
2+ years of experience as a full-time Web Designer
Experience with Adobe XD
Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of both graphic design and web development design challenges as they relate to making websites accessible
Successful completion of coursework in information architecture and user experience
