Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick. PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten "Most Tech-Savvy" community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. It is one of the nation's 82 "Achieving the Dream" Leader Colleges. The college offers transfer programs, in addition to career-track and certification programs, and serves more than 200 employers through workforce development. It is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Position Summary: Patrick Henry Community College seeks to hire an information technology professional who holds skills and credentials in cybersecurity, networking, coding, and cloud computing to teach both academic credit and workforce non-credit programs. The position will be a Hybrid Credit/Non-Credit Faculty, which is a full-time, restricted, professional faculty member who is managed by the collegeâs Chief Workforce Officer. The supervisor for academic credit courses will be the Dean of STEM, Health and Applied Programs. The position will have credit and non-credit teaching responsibilities, as well as responsibilities for the recruitment, work-based learning opportunities, and job placement of completers from workforce and academic Industry 4.0/Information Technology programs. Industry 4.0 is the merging of operational and informational technologies, where machines are networked and there is increased interoperability between machines, devices, sensors, and people, creating a âsmart factoryâ of cyber-physical systems. The position will also provide student advising and maintain office hours in a ratio related to credit teaching load. Teaching hours may vary based on industry and student needs, including evening and/or weekend hours. The position will also develop and manage an industry-related Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT) of employers. Additional responsibilities include to: â¢ Mentor adjunct faculty as appropriate by sharing information, advice, and materials. â¢ Establish and maintain the necessary industry recognized instructor and program certifications and accreditations. â¢ Review curriculum of program courses; revise/update course content as necessary. â¢ Partner with local manufacturers and area industries for better understanding of their applicable needs, and transfer those needs into the program curriculum. â¢ Responsibilities encompass all classes assigned, committees assigned, or other activities agreed upon between faculty members and administration This is a 12-month, grant-funded position with a one year contract that may be renewed as needed.
