Provide strategic leadership for content development, planning and execution, overseeing all marketing and communications content initiatives, both internal and external, across all platforms and formats to optimally engage audiences and deliver on Kent State University's Strategic Roadmap. Serve as an expert in content-related channel optimization, brand consistency, segmentation, analytics, and meaningful measurement. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Content Strategy and Chief Content Officer.

Lead content team in comprehensive, innovative thinking to strategically create, develop, approve, and disseminate compelling stories that share Kent State's vision and excellence with the world.
Assist in the development and execution of content management strategy that supports and extends the university's strategic initiatives, brand awareness and reputation.
Supervise writers, editors, and content strategists, ensuring consistency in brand, strategic messaging, quality and accuracy.
Ensure all content is in brand, consistent in style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, social media, email, mobile, video, and print.
Initiate, research, write, and deliver engaging content for university-wide communications, assessing and recommending best platforms for delivery.
Collaborate with divisions, campuses and colleges across the institution to identify significant stories, coordinate content development and distribution plans.
Conduct ongoing usability tests to gauge content effectiveness. Gather data and metrics, analyze results and make recommendations.
Leverage market, industry and higher education data to develop content themes and topics, and execute a plan to develop the assets that support and advance the university's strategic priorities.
Establish a workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content.
Conduct periodic competitive audits.
Produce select communications for other university officials as assigned.
Follow issues, trends, and developments in higher education and reflect them in prepared communications.

Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications or other related field of study. Five years’ experience in multichannel content creation (publishing, journalism, etc.) including experience with creating compelling messages for different target demographics. Expertise in major business software applications (Adobe, Microsoft Office, etc.).
