The Health & Wellness Office is seeking an organized, creative and self-motivated individual to help develop prevention materials, coordinate and implement health education programming, and manage all social media accounts and website for the office.
The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Director of Health & Wellness, students, the campus community, and outside agencies in order to develop health & wellness related educational opportunities and programs relating to overall health & wellness, including but not limited to, sexual health, alcohol and drug misuse, diet and exercise, immunizations, and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in developing prevention materials and health education programming for students, faculty and staff, occasionally outside of the normal 8am-5pm work day. Topics include, but are not limited to sexual health, mental health, diet, exercise and cold and flu prevention.
Assist with major Office of Health and Wellness events, including, but not limited to Blood Drives, Flu Shot Clinics and the annual Health Fair.
Manage the Office of Health and Wellness social media and web pages and help create other digital promotional materials.
Assist with immunization compliance, including education, documentation and follow-up.
Assist with triage of ill students, helping to make appointments or directing students to the appropriate level of care, based on pre-established guidelines, if the nurse practitioner is out of the office.
Serve as a resource and mentor for HEROS (Health Educators promoting Responsible Options), helping them to clarify and implement their health education and promotion ideas
Position requires an individual with attention to detail, strong communication and computer skills. Individual must be proficient in all Microsoft programs, all social media platforms and have ability to multi-task and work independently or within a group; and to complete tasks with little supervision and manage time effectively. Individual should display professionalism in all work duties and possess excellent customer service skills.

Candidates must be accepted into a Maryville University graduate program in Health Professions, Education, or Communication to be considered for the Graduate Assistant position in Health & Wellness. Selected candidate must be a student in good standing in the academic program and at the University, and complete assignments in a conscientious, timely, professional manner. Compensation includes stipend and graduate tuition waiver for up to 12 credits/year (total package approximately $12,564).
