We’re adding to our portfolio of lifelong learning offerings with a new digital platform that will serve as a one-stop community for alumni: access to curated research, career resources, coaching and engagement opportunities with the Carlson School.
We are hiring a Content and Community Manager to engage alumni and deliver on the school’s purpose by helping launch and maintain this new digital platform. Working with members of the school’s executive leadership team (including Faculty & Research, Executive Education, Institutional Advancement and Marketing Communications), this role will curate existing content opportunities, generate & produce new content offerings and facilitate engagement amongst Carlson School alumni and faculty. Additionally, this role will collaborate with our external technology partner on plans for launch and beyond relating to content, community management and optimization of the community experience.
Content creation and curation (50%)
You will be accountable for the planning, development/creation and distribution of an editorial plan and associated multimedia content across the digital platform. Duties to include:
Curate and/or produce content for a new digital content and engagement platform for Carlson School alumni and external stakeholders
Produce and manage new content across a variety of media types (e.g. video, blog, podcast, events, etc); if needed, utilize internal and/or external content production resources
Liaise and collaborate with the office of the Associate Dean of Faculty and Research, Institutional Advancement, and Executive Education to showcase the Carlson School’s intellectual prowess and business community engagement
Collaborate and coordinate across the enterprise to source content from existing options (e.g. faculty research, events, guest speakers, etc.) as well as identify new content sourcing opportunities within the school
Plan, manage and execute the build out of the content library leading up to launch; grow and maintain content library ongoing post-launch
Community management (25%)
You will use your communication skills to moderate conversations and help build positive engagement within our community of users.
Manage and maintain an online community of Carlson School alumni initially and external stakeholder (eventually) via the new digital content and engagement platform; act as the community administrator, which includes engaging with users and using engagement analytics to improve the overall community experience
Analyze and present engagement data to inform leadership as they craft strategies to improve community success and build alumni and stakeholder interest
Project management (25%)
You will work closely with leadership, other departments and external partners to make sure that content and technology deliverables are on time, budget and within scope.
Liaise and collaborate with other content creators within the Marketing and Communications department
Maintain content calendars, manage timelines for content creation, draft and edit copy, etc.
Work closely with external technology vendor to maintain project timelines, assess performance, analyze data, and maintain communication
BA/BS Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Art or a related field
Four years of professional communications experience
Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously
Must be organized, detail-oriented and deadline-driven
Using Adobe Creative Software (e.g.Photoshop, Premier, After Effects, etc.)
Creating scripts and/or storyboards for audio and video digital media (e.g. YouTube, podcasts, broadcast, websites and social media channels)
Managing external audio/video production and post-production resources
Knowledge of website measurement tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
One year or more experience in online community engagement and/or moderating online community discussions
One year or more experience creating, managing and executing a content program/calendar
Knowledge of the website creation and development process
Knowledge of website content management systems
