The Newsroom Manager leads Geisinger’s internal new bureau tasked with covering, editing and packaging positive Geisinger news inclusive of the health system, health plan, medical school and research institute for dissemination to multiple key audiences. The Newsroom Manager will be responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team of a writer/producer and a videographer to enhance Geisinger’s reputation locally, regionally and nationally. The Newsroom manager must be comfortable identifying story opportunities, developing communication plans and assigning responsibilities among his/her team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required.
At least 5+ years of experience in managing multidisciplinary news teams.
On-air experience or experience as a working journalist a plus.
Experience in writing, storytelling, editing and crafting content for a wide range to news media outlets, including broadcast, print, social and digital.
Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential.
Familiarity with digital media (navigating web/device interfaces).
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High level of organization, motivation and ability to work under pressure and supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Independent travel to various locations throughout Geisinger service territory may be required.
