The Design & Content Manager is part of a collaborative team responsible for Marketing the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Primary responsibilities include marketing project management for CEHHS and the associated departments and centers that includes developing original and creative graphic designs, as well as writing, editing and presentation of original content for media relations, electronic media, social, or print publications. This position will also be responsible for coordinating production specifications and details to ensure that they are within budget and compliant with university standards.
Assists director of marketing with the conceptualization and implementation of graphic solutions and compelling content that aid in the marketing for the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Other responsibilities include offering assistance with the following:
Plans and coordinates graphic design and production details for college and departmental print and digital publications.
Supplies design ideas, layouts comps, fits copy, suggests either illustrations or photography or combinations of both to support the design idea.
Consults with college-level clients to assess their needs, ensuring design specifications meet specific budget restrictions and deadlines; establishes priorities as required.
Selects materials for final product.
Prepares specifications for quotes from various film engravers, printers, and vendors pertaining to each production job.
Prepares computer layout of the project and executes production of same. Prepares images for digital usage, including scanning and digital manipulation of images.
Oversees production of illustrations with outside vendors and schedules and attends photo shoot for photography.
Works with printers to prepare itemized written estimates. Determines and prepares graphics specifications in accordance with budgetary limitations.
Writes original material for publication considering length and style most appropriate for the medium, (web, print, and digital), audience, and purpose (e.g. recruitment, development, branding, etc).
Works independently on a project-by-project basis to fulfill internal goals, time-lines, and guidelines.
Conducts interviews and finds interesting features of CEHHS to highlight. Content might include, but are not limited to, media releases, web content, research summaries, magazine features, blog posts, social media posts, event coverage, brochure text, and appropriate white papers.
May provide supervision to student marketing team.
