Rochester Public Utilities RPU is the largest municipal utility in the State of Minnesota with annual revenues nearing $178 million, serving 40,000water and 55,000 electric customers within the city limits. RPU is governed by a five member Utility Board.
Position Profile Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) is is accepting applications for the position of Senior Electric Substation and Controls Engineer, who is responsible for supervising engineering and/or technical sections and developing budgets and schedules. This position also provides project management and technical assistance to utility operating sections, prepares electrical design and standards, and conducts studies related to system planning and operation. This position also assists in electrical work for the Water Utility. The primary emphasis of this position may include electric substations, electric transmission or electric distribution systems as necessary.
Compensation Starting salary range $94,097 to $138,377.

Education and Experience This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering AND five (5) years of progressively responsible full-time employment experience in the utility industry with electrical utility infrastructure design, maintenance and construction.
Licenses, Certifications and Training Valid driver's license
Prior to being hired, promoted or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also required.
