The Web Operations Specialist reports to the Director of Web Operations who serves as the University Webmaster. The incumbent provides assistance to academic and administrative units of the University in creating and maintaining web visibility for their respective suites of web pages. The incumbent applies expertise in four technical areas: Web Development (web page design and implementation), Search Engine Optimization (updating pages so as to increase their success in web searches), ADA compliance (adapting web pages so as to meet accessibility requirements), and Social Networking (using Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter and similar tools to create synergy between the FDU website and FDU social networking.)
1.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Communications, Marketing, or equivalent related work experience.
2.Minimum of four years of experience in the Web host environment with strong project management skills.
3.Extensive knowledge of HTML, HTML editors/tools, and web page coding and debugging.
4. Extensive knowledge of WCAG 2.x and other accepted standards of compliance with ADA accessibility.
6.Strong working knowledge of WordPress.
7.Knowledge of server configuration and security, FTP, SFTP, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HTTP and HTTPS protocols, htaccess password protection, commonly used Web browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari.
8.Sufficient familiarity with Windows and/or Macintosh based graphic tools (e.g. Photoshop) to make cropping, sizing, resolution, compression, image quality, and content emphasis changes to web images.
9.Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office/Office365 family of software, and its use in communicating technical information.
10.Experience with Adobe Acrobat including fillable forms and file format conversion tools.
11.Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to teach a training class in a technical topic.
12.Must be available to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends to respond to and resolve high priority problems.
13.Valid driver's license and access to transportation for travel between campuses.
14.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security card.
