The Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position of Director of Digital Communications.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated to advancing the university's reputation. Staff members support the institution's mission and goals, promote its successes and achievements, inform and engage its stakeholders, and ensure the integrity of its brand. We craft audience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emerging trends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals across several cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, Special Events, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
The Director of Digital Communications serves as an integral member of the Office of Communications and Marketing's leadership team. The director leads the development of the university's digital communication strategy and oversees a team of developers, designers, and creative professionals.
Develops and oversees the execution of digital communication strategies in order to achieve the university's overall communications goals and objectives.
In collaboration with OCM leadership and campus partners, establishes the university's marketing and communication strategy, defines objectives, and measures the success of programs and initiatives.
Reviews and approves all digital materials designed, developed, and produced by the Office of Communications and Marketing to ensure quality and consistency with the university's brand standards.
Enforces the established brand standards of the university in electronic media, including websites, emails, social media, digital signage, and web and mobile applications.
Leads the university's digital governance program and ensures compliance with established policies regarding online accessibility standards, in concert with key strategic partners
Serves as a resource for the university community for issues regarding digital communications, online accessibility, and technology.
Meets with clients and internal teams to access communication needs and goals and develop strategies for achieving those goals.
Leads and guides internal teams throughout the execution and implementation of creative projects and serves as lead designer and/or developer on high-profile initiatives.
Manages the overall operational, staffing, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
