The Office of Communications and Marketing at the Universityof Tennessee, Knoxville, seeks applications and nominations for the position ofDirector of Creative Communications.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated toadvancing the university's reputation. Staff members support the institution'smission and goals, promote its successes and achievements, inform and engageits stakeholders, and ensure the integrity of its brand. We craftaudience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emergingtrends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals acrossseveral cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, SpecialEvents, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
The Director of Creative Communications serves as anintegral member of the Office of Communications and Marketing's leadershipteam. The director leads the development and management of the university'svisual identity and design standards and oversees a team of designers, artdirectors, photographers, and editors.
Establishes and manages the university's brandidentity and oversees the creative direction of internal- and external-facingdesigns in order to help achieve university's overall communicationsobjectives.
Reviews and approves all materials designed,developed, and produced by the Office of Communications and Marketing to ensurequality and consistency with the university's brand standards.
In collaboration with divisional leadership andcampus partners, establishes the university's marketing and communicationstrategy, defines objectives, and measures the success of programs andinitiatives.
Enforces the established brand standards for theuniversity in a variety of media.
Reviews and approves use of universitytrademarks alongside the Office of Trademark Licensing through the university'sagreement with Collegiate Licensing Company.
Serves as a resource for the universitycommunity for issues regarding branding, design, and visual identity.
Meets with clients and internal teams to accesscommunication needs and goals and develop strategies for achieving those goals.
Leads and guides internal teams throughout theexecution and implementation of creative projects and serves as lead designeron high-profile initiatives.
Manages the overall operational, staffing,budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.

Working knowledge of accessibility standards anddigital communication best practices
