The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals acrossseveral cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, SpecialEvents, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
The Budget Director serves as an integral member of theOffice of Communications and Marketing's leadership team. The director providesleadership, professional guidance, and management of all financial andadministrative processes for the division, including finance and accounting,financial planning, budgeting, human resources, strategic planning, and officeoperations.
Oversees all financial and administrativeprocesses for the Office of Communications and Marketing.
Advises vice chancellor, associate vicechancellor, and department heads regarding efficient uses of funds and collaborateswith senior management to develop and implement departmental vision, goals, andstrategies.
Forecasts revenues for complexrevenue-generating operations with multiple streams of internal and externalrevenues and provides long-term financial planning for capital-intensiveoperations with large renewal and replacement needs.
Responsibilities include management of humanresources, financial strategy, forecasting, accounting, formulating andpreparing budgets, financial analysis, requisitions/bids/NCJs, projectingrevenues and expenses, developing and processing contracts, invoice andtransaction approval, ensuring adequate internal controls, ensuring soundprocesses for handling billing and receivables/payables, identifying andimplementing ways to conserve limited financial resources, and overseeing alladministrative functions.
Responds to queries from Audit and Compliance aspart of the required annual audit of chancellor's discretionary funds.
Supervises two employees and oversees the division'sadministrative operations.
Creates annual financial statements for WUOT asrequired by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, synthesizing complexfinancial data from multiple sources and formats and consolidating it into aseries of Financial Statements in accordance with Generally Accepted AccountingPrinciples (GAAP) and CPB requirements.
Knowledge, Skills,and Abilities:
Familiarity with university financial policiesand procedures, university human resources policies and procedures, universitypurchasing processes, and university budgeting procedures is stronglypreferred.
Knowledge of SAP/IRIS is strongly preferred.
Understanding of audit procedures and processesis desired. Some background in auditing is a plus.
