The Senior Creative Producer (SCP) collaborates with colleagues within the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL), as well as faculty and instructors to develop and manage complex digital media projects. The Senior Creative Producer will guide projects through the entire lifecycle - from concept creation and pre-production to delivery and archiving.
The SCP will be a member of the Digital Media Creation and Strategy team (DMCS team) within the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) which is the part of VPTL focused on extending education beyond Stanford's campus through both paid and freely-accessible learning experiences. The DMCS team engages on a broad portfolio of digital media projects for everything from master's level graduate programs to professional certificate programs to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) - and everything in between.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
Have a strong and diverse portfolio of past educational media projects
Be passionate about creating impactful learning experiences through digital media while creatively navigating time and budget constraints and maximizing available resources
Have prior experience managing a large portfolio of concurrent projects
Have past experience as a member of a digital media team (e.g. working together with editors, camera operators, etc.)
Have prior experience working at a college or university and successfully collaborating with faculty, instructors, and high-level administrators on projects
Be familiar with VPTL's/SCPD's product offerings
Build and manage productive relationships with a broad range of people: including faculty, academic staff, program managers, instructional designers, etc. - closely collaborating on creative approaches to meet learning goals with digital media, setting timelines, articulating the production process and expectations, communicating issues, providing status updates, and suggesting appropriate methods for improvement.
Develop overall themes for multi-faceted projects as well as individual concepts, and determine appropriate mediums and the effective use of resources.
Coordinate the pre-production process: work with faculty and instructors on concept development, scripts, and storyboards; create and communicate project scope and timelines; and manage deliverables within the resources allocated.
Coordinate the production process: schedule shoots and determine staffing needs to support them; uphold legal compliance standards and procedures; finalize deliverables with the teaching team; and post assets to internal or external media hosting platforms.
Organize the post-production of content and collaborate with the post-production team: editing videos, adding slides and supplemental content, and encoding video resources to the right specifications.
Help faculty and instructors understand recording options available to them, and help them learn to record their lectures using the methods most appropriate to their needs.
Assist teaching team, including TAs, with video production tools and course platforms. Serve as the in-house digital media expert for a school/unit.
Research, recommend, and implement hardware and software configurations to meet customer needs, create costs estimates for different equipment options.
Make recommendations for purchases and repairs of digital media equipment.
Act as a liaison with contractors and identify competitive pricing for products and services.
Work on technical projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology.
May lead and train other production staff.
*All applicants will need to submit a portfolio of work. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
The ability to manage a variety of complex, highly creative projects with changing priorities, deadlines, and faculty and staff needs
Experience working on multiple projects concurrently, including a commitment to meeting timelines and proactively communicating delays or issues
The ability to think creatively in project conceptualization as well as finding solutions to problems
Demonstrated experience with concept creation and production process
Excellent interpersonal skills and positive service-oriented attitude; sensitive to faculty needs and expectations; mature judgment and developed diplomacy skills; demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships
Strong skills with NLE workflows - Premiere and After Effects preferred
Strong knowledge of digital asset management, color correction and audio mixing, and production techniques
Advanced technical experience using production equipment including field and studio cameras, sound and lighting equipment, camera workflows, video creation and editing software, and encoding best practices and video compression formats
Strong ability to perform detailed work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to set-up, breakdown and carry equipment to and from recording studios, classrooms, and other production sites
Ability to lead a small team on complex productions - a self-starter who can work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert level technical experience using digital media equipment, video creation, editing software, and/or motion graphics and effects software
Comprehensive knowledge in production techniques including videography, compression, and file delivery and other production formats
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of professional quality productions, including field and studio camera, lighting, sound, and editing
Proven savvy and understanding of online video environment and online distribution
Ability to independently manage a variety of simultaneous projects within tight deadlines: excellent organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated experience in leading and training others
Ability to communicate and articulate digital media products and options and adapt to alternatives when appropriate
Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and diplomacy required to interact effectively with and provide customer service to a broad spectrum of collaborators and stakeholders, including high-level executives and faculty
Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative team environment
Experience planning, coordinating, and executing archival digitization projects
