Position Summary: The Executive Director of Publications and Creative Services reports to the Chief Strategy Officer and oversees a broad portfolio of publications as well as the creation of advertising and marketing collateral for various campaigns across multiple channels and mediums. The Executive Director will be a prolific writer of concise and effective marketing copy, will have the ability to guide complex and creative graphic design, and will be an outstanding proofreader. The successful candidate also will have experience managing publications processes and teams. This individual will supervise a team of writers, graphic designers, and a photographer who produce print publications, advertisements, brochures, events collateral, signage, and other promotional materials that communicate NJIT's key messages to varied constituencies while ensuring overall continuity and application of institutional brand. The Executive Director will work closely with the Executive Director of Marketing and Social Media to support NJIT marketing campaigns and will collaborate with various academic and administrative units on the development of messages and materials to support communication and marketing objectives. This position also is responsible for the maintenance of university wide graphics standards and brand consistency as well as production of a wide variety of print and digital publications for both internal and external visibility. The Executive Director will be NJIT's brand champion and steward, inspiring and leading the creative team in strategic problem solving while building partnerships with key marketing contacts across the university.
Prerequisite Qualifications: ? Bachelor's degree in a related field ? Minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible and related professional experience, including three years of supervisory/managerial experience in communications, marketing, or a related field ? Demonstrated customer-oriented and service-centered attitude ? Advanced knowledge in organization, planning, and management of publication and creative processes as well as technology applications within a university environment ? Demonstrated experience in relationship building, negotiating, project management, and supervision ? Highly organized and data-driven ? At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
