To be considered for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or eligible to sit for the PE exam preferred. Professional design experience required with experience related to demolition, hazardous materials abatement, water/wastewater systems preferred. 5+ years progressively responsible experience, preferably in engineering design, consulting, and project management. Alaskan consulting experience preferred.
Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following technical skill areas: demolition design, specification writing, hazardous material building assessment and abatement, construction inspections, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan development, tank inspection and assessment, water and wastewater treatment, environmental sampling, risk assessment, computer modeling, site characterization, waste minimization evaluations, storm water pollution prevention plans, spill response and cleanup, RCRA assessment and disposal, compliance audits, contaminated site remediation, NEPA process (EAs and EISs), knowledge of testing equipment and electronics. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required and will be evaluated during the interview process.
Certification: State of Alaska driver’s license, ADEC qualified sampler and 40-hour HAZWOPER required. Specialty certifications such as hazardous material manager, AHERA inspector/designer, lead-based paint risk assessor, preferred. Candidates must be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) or eligible to sit for examination.
Duties & Responsibilities: Technical engineering responsibilities commensurate with experience and position including building assessments and development of hazardous materials and demolition design packages, client marketing, proposal development, field work, sampling, interpretation and analysis of results, written and oral presentations of findings to clients and regulatory agencies. The successful candidate should anticipate working on A/E teams with multiple designers for multiple clients. Occasional overnight travel within Alaska and exposure to all of the technical skill areas listed above should be expected.
