The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, a co-educational independent school, with approximately 500 students in grades preschool through eight, is seeking a full-time early childhood assistant teacher. The EC assistant teacher is responsible for assisting the lead pre-kindergarten teacher in the Early Childhood Education Center. Working collaboratively with a team of educational professionals, the EC assistant teacher needs to demonstrate a strong commitment to the School’s Vision of teaching graduates to achieve their individual potential, savor life, and meet the challenges of the world.

Essential Functions of the Dawson Early Childhood Assistant Teacher:
Collaborate with classroom Lead Teacher
Collaborate with teaching teams
Provide student support in an early childhood classroom
Follow and execute lesson plans created by Lead Teacher
Summarize student progress and provide feedback
Conduct one-on-one and small group student support
Facilitate whole group instruction
Serve in a substitute teacher role as needed
Assist with classroom prep (copying, bulletin boards, material preparation)
Carry out recess, lunch and snack duties
Attend professional meetings and trainings
Knowledge of content-related pedagogy
Demonstrated understanding of cultural competency.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills
Strong work ethic, sense of humor, and the ability to be a team player
Possess a high degree of confidentiality, flexibility, creativity, and ability to adapt to an ever-changing school environment
Knowledge of technology as an effective instructional tool.
High School Diploma
Child Development Associate (CDA) or 12 college credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, and/or early childhood special education
Minimum of three (3) years experience in an early childhood school setting
Independent school experience preferred but not required
