The Director of Strategic Communications, reporting to and working closely with the Vice President for Marketing and Communications, develops an overarching communications strategy. The director oversees day-to-day communications of University Communications, including digital, print and media relations efforts, as well as comprehensively writes and edits to support the university brand through storytelling. Specific Responsibilities
Establish and maintain productive, strategically sound relationships with university departments, such as University Advancement (e.g., Development, Annual Fund, Alumni/Parent Relations); Enrollment Management and First-Year Experience; and other campus clients to determine how to best use communications to meet their objectives.
Assist key campus clients with their communications needs, serving as consultant and project manager.
Work closely with the creative team on client projects needing graphic design.
Serve as editor of Susquehanna Currents university magazine and Ventures business-school magazine.
Supervise the Communications and Media Specialist and help maximize media relations and the placement of news stories, op-eds, expert analysis and commentary, etc.
Oversee content for the highest, brand-focused levels of the website, e-newsletters, brochures, magazines, etc. Ensure quality control and timeliness of all content. Also, increase efficiencies by repurposing content and cross marketing.
