Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the Strategic Communications Manager will lead the content development and execution for a range of written, electronic, and multimedia content that support Facilities Management and Campus Services and highlight the division's impact to the larger Columbia University Irving Medical Center community. Facilities Management and Campus Services comprises the following departments: Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library, Campus Life Safety and Regulatory Compliance, Campus Operations, Capital Project Management, Facilities Engineering, Faculty Club, Finance and Administration, Strategic Communications, and Student Health Service.
The Strategic Communications Manager's scope will be both tactical and strategic, requiring elements of internal consulting, content strategy, and project management. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work with the Director of Strategic Communications to develop an overarching content strategy that integrates consistent messaging with key strategic medical center and division-wide initiatives.15%
Manage production for communications projects for the division's various departments and sub-divisions, which include writing/editing and project management of print, video, online, and other marketing materials and promotional tools; work closely with colleagues and internal/external vendors to ensure each project meets branding and editorial standards as well as any key departmental objectives.15%
Manage and update the central Facilities Management and Campus Services website; work with CUIMC Web Services to make ongoing improvements for maximum website effectiveness; provide guidance and share key updates and best online practices to departmental content contributors.15%
Oversee usage and maintenance of division-wide Facilities Management email account and various segmented audience email lists; develop internal workflow to ensure emails distributed to medical center community are sent to the appropriate audience(s) and are timely, relevant and reflect division-wide editorial style guides.15%
Oversee internal communications strategies—including but not limited to communications training opportunities, division-wide staff meetings, and internal publications—that focus on improving customer service and internal operating efficiency.
Track, aggregate, and analyze communications and customer service outreach metrics; generate and distribute monthly reports to Facilities Management and Campus Services leadership.15%
Explore new forms of communications and technologies to increase flow of communication, both internally with members of Facilities Management and Campus Services and externally with individuals across the medical center5%
