The Graduate Assistant will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with coverage of Castleton’s 28 varsity sports.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
•Supervise and coordinate game-day media operations and supervision of game-day staff, including statisticians for assigned sports. •Assist in fielding and directing responses to interview requests from local and national media. •Assist in the marketing and promotion of the Castleton’s 28 varsity programs. •Write and edit various communication materials, game recaps, game notes and sport-specific content for the department’s website. •Coordinate, record, and edit videos to be used on castletonsports.com, including generating short features and marketing promos. •Participate in the development and implementation of integrated marketing communication initiatives for the college. •Monitor, facilitate and provide content for @CastletonSports on social media platforms. •Participate in the planning and execution of social media marketing campaigns. •Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring interns, and student workers. •Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications staff members on various projects and initiatives. •Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION: Tuition remission, room, and a stipend of $4,000 to be paid over the academic year.

Bachelor’s degree in sports management/administration, business management, marketing, communications or other appropriate discipline.
Acceptance into a master’s degree program (www.castleton.edu/gradprograms)
Broad base of technical journalistic knowledge and skills including writing, editing, graphic design, and photography and videography.
Ability to deal effectively with and represent the University to a broad range of individuals and groups within and outside of the University.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to, evenings and weekends.
Experience in the athletic communications field preferred.
Knowledge of a broad range of sports preferred.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, PrestoSports website management, and Stat Crew statistical software platforms preferred.
