The School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Production Design/ Production in one of the most innovative and fastest-growing film schools in the country. The School of Cinematic Arts offers a concentration in Production Design for our BFA students, a cross-college degree formed with The Theatre School at DePaul.
The responsibilities of this position will require teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in production design for film and television. The ability to teach courses in film and television production is also desired. All tenure-track faculty are expected to develop and maintain a scholarly profile that aligns with the expectations of tenure and promotion. Additionally, they participate in service within and beyond campus including: attendance at program and departmental meetings, active participation in recruitment efforts, advising students, participation in departmental, college, and university committees, and professional stewardship in the field.
Ideal candidates for the positions will have three years of teaching and industry experience. We are actively seeking candidates with cultural diversity competency skills that enhance the experience of traditionally underrepresented populations and cultivate a more inclusive climate for our students, staff, faculty, and the broader community of which DePaul is an integral part.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. MFA degree (or equivalent) and three years of professional industry experience in film and/or television. 2. Excellent diversity competency skills. 3. Professional and teaching experience in production design skills such as CAD, drawing, model-making, set construction, and/or scenic painting. 4. Professional and teaching experience in additional areas of production.

In 2018, SCA was ranked 13th in Hollywood Reporter's annual list of the top film schools in the country and named by Variety as one of the top film schools in the world.
In SCA, there are currently over 1000 majors enrolled in the BA, BFA, BS, MS and MFA degree programs. The MFA degrees are in Film and Television Directing, Screenwriting, Creative Producing, Documentary and Animation. Production resources include industry standard camera packages, two green screen stages, a motion capture studio, two sound studios, one television studio, one 4K digital cinema theatre, a lighting and sound stage, grip truck and a two full sound stages at Cinespace Studios. Past visiting artists include directors Lana and Lily Wachowski, Colin Trevorrow, Marc Webb, Tom DeCillo, producer Paula Wagner, filmmaker Werner Herzog, former Disney executive Chuck Viane, and actor Tim Robbins.
