The Game Development program in the School of Design within the College of Computing and Digital Media at DePaul invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track position with a renewable one-year term to begin in September 2019.
As a member of the Game Design program you would be teaching undergraduate and graduate students the practical skills of game production, as well as mentoring them in innovative approaches to designing meaningful, experimental, artistic, political, and personal games.
Located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant Loop, the School of Design prides itself on nurturing a diverse body of students to become visionary and interdisciplinary designers. As such we are interested in recruiting and maintaining a diverse group of faculty. Faculty in the School of Design are given many forms of support to develop their careers as scholars and artists. Faculty have access to cutting-edge equipment and lab spaces, including VR and AR production spaces, a makerspace, as well as recording, film, and motion capture studios. The position features well-paid compensation and support for presenting work at festivals and conferences. Colleagues in the Game Design program are dedicated to mutual success and growth, and we are interested in someone who will add new dimensions to our program.
A terminal degree such as an MFA or PhD is required for this position. The ideal candidate for the position will have teaching and creative development experience in several of the following areas: • Prototyping and playtesting • Scripting • Level design • Systems design • Game narratives • Experimental game design • Social justice based game design
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of showing games in festivals, museums, and/or conferences, who has advised student work accepted into festivals. Qualified candidates will have substantial experience teaching and mentoring students, as well as a record of scholarly and creative activity.
