The Brown University Division of Advancement seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director, Alumni Communications.
The Assistant Director, Alumni Communications reports to and works closely with the Associate Director of Alumni Communications as well as Alumni Relations leadership and program managers, to increase alumni engagement with Brown and its extended community through broad-based and targeted communications. These communications currently include the Brown alumni website (brunonia.brown.edu/alumni), more than 100 targeted email communications annually, selected print media and alumni-related stories, and social media properties.
These channels will continue to multiply as communication technology evolves, requiring a flexible approach to the work. The Assistant Director, Alumni Communications acts as an internal consultant to help program managers maximize the reach and impact of their alumni engagement programs and also functions as project manager and production manager for assigned communications duties.
Three years of experience in communications and/or marketing with demonstrated superior proficiency in written and digital communications is required.
Minimum of three years in higher education communications is strongly preferred.
Understanding of communication strategy and the discipline it requires.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and persuasive skills. Must be able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Experience managing social media efforts, including knowledge of social channels and their benefits, content development and execution, and analysis of social media metrics/impact
Ability to work effectively under deadlines, manage multiple simultaneous projects, and produce high quality, error-free work.
Basic knowledge of HTML.
Experience using Adobeâ™s suite of web development tools (Dreamweaver, Photoshop).
Experience collecting and analyzing digital communications metrics/analytics.
Demonstrated understanding of issues that affect underrepresented populations.
