Reporting to the Executive Director, the Learning & Development Manager is responsible for designing, developing, facilitating and procuring learning and organizational development content and experiences for a diverse client base.
This role leads innovative in-person and micro-learning as well as leverages multi-media technology to enhance workshop content and activities. The Manager is responsible for updating, facilitating and scheduling new hire orientation and calendar training workshops. The Manager will be responsible for aligning development offerings with overall University, School, Department and Team strategic imperatives, core values, and target KPIs. Design new program offerings as well as identify, evaluate, and schedule external vendor partners for training workshops as well as in-person, blended and virtual training workshops. The Manager will tailor L&D and external vendor training content and delivery for University environment and client group needs. Assess online learning metrics and create competency-based development curriculum, schedule spring/fall training calendar offerings, generate calendar and ad-hoc program communications and facilitate client group instructor-led training programs as assigned. Manages projects effectively, on time and on budget.
Curriculum Design and Scheduling:
Establish University-wide curriculum offerings, content and facilitator schedule.
Design competency-based learning catalog and facilitator workshop inventory.
Manage Spring/Fall calendar, room reservations, and program logistics
Increase team development and productivity workshop offerings across multiple learning modalities (e.g., online, in-person, job-aids, micro-learning, etc.)
Enhance vendor partnerships and manage calendar procurement process
Workshop Design, Development and Facilitation:
Design and develop workshop content including facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids and pre/post program activities.
Partner with internal facilitators and external vendors to customize workshop content, case studies and activities to the University culture, employee performance and strategic goals.
Identify or design multi-media content to enhance program learning content and facilitation.
Partner with L&D colleagues to customize and facilitate client group workshops.
Update workshop content, activities based on learning needs analysis and program metrics
New Hire Orientation:
Manages new hire orientation program, ensuring content enhancements and guest speakers.
Designs presentation schedule and associated communications with scheduled guest speakers.
Delivers new hire orientation train-the-trainer and ongoing workshop facilitation practice.
Manage giveaways inventory, catering, budget and vendor relationships.
Program Marketing and Metrics:
Manage program metrics including budget tracking, workshop evaluations, etc.
Promote and update Team Building website content, track access and update offerings.
Lead client group roadshows and maintain inventory of introductory materials, flyers, etc.
Partner with HR Communications to design annual email communications and website updates.
Learning Management System:
Design L&D workshop schedule includes workshop offerings, objectives, and target audience.
Partner with L&D Specialist to establish automatic and ad-hoc system reports.
Provide HR Service Center guidance for responding to client inquiries.
Evaluate learning programs, content and curriculum.
Bachelor's degree required.
Four to six years of relevant experience required.
Strong facilitation and action-based learning design experience.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and operate at both strategic and tactical levels.
Ability to design innovative experiential learning and support organizational development initiatives.
Strong project management, negotiation, analytical and relationship building skills.
Master's degree in OD/OE or a related field preferred.
Superior PC skills with experience with Microsoft Office applications, LMS, Adobe or other design platforms.
Vendor management experience a plus.
