The International Foodservice Distributors Association seeks a Manager, Industry Workforce Development who will work closely with the IFDA executive management team and members to develop, manage and lead strategic association initiatives that will help members attract, retain and develop professionals in the foodservice distribution industry.
Responsible for development, implementation, and management of IFDA’s programs that support talent/workforce strategic priorities for the foodservice distribution industry and IFDA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Management of tangible industry deliverables such as related thought leadership, research projects/surveys, education platforms such as conferences/workshops, webinars, toolkits, digital resource assets, etc.;
Integration of relevant content in existing IFDA event platforms/exploring new talent platforms;
Development of member/vendor/governmental communities and value platforms (to include digital/virtual) to identify, prioritize and activate on industry workforce priorities;
Develop, monitor and manage budgets related to IFDA industry talent/workforce programs;
Collaborate with program managers and members to develop, manage and execute talent focused programming and content for IFDA events and various engagement platforms;
Launch, manage and maintain a foodservice distribution workforce development share group/participate in other share group meetings as needed;
Support and enhance value of existing IFDA platforms such as
Executive Development program, Truck Driver Hall of Fame, etc.;
Develop, maintain and leverage relationships and programs with universities, community colleges, career centers, trade schools, training centers, foundations, government entities, career development organizations and employment related vendors.
Industry Relations Committee/Council participation and management:
Serve as primary liaison and lead the IFDA Talent Task Force and related projects/subcommittees, thought leadership/research efforts and other activities;
Actively engage/participate/support IFDA HR Leadership Committee, Women in Foodservice Distribution Leadership Committee, etc.;
Support/participate/advise other association committees/councils as needed.
Additional Responsibilities and Duties:
Attend relevant foodservice/HR/talent and relevant adjacent industry trade shows and meetings.
Visit and engage with members, vendors, educational/career development institutions and partners.
Actively monitor, research and stay abreast of workforce/talent/HR developments that may benefit the foodservice distribution industry.
Assist in program development and execution at key IFDA conferences as it relates to talent management/workforce development
Other duties as assigned/needed.
No direct supervisory responsibility but works with administrative support staff and manages various vendors for the successful running of task forces/committees/share groups, projects and meetings.
Some overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air. Overnight travel for site visits, prospecting trips, events and conferences may last up to 8 consecutive nights.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and accomplish objectives with limited/without supervision;
Proven ability to recognize industry change and deliver recommended strategies for new business opportunities;
General knowledge of Microsoft Office, familiarity with databases, project management software, relevant professional digital media, etc.;
Excellent project/program skills, proven track record of successfully leading volunteer groups and projects from conception through completion;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with aptitude in building relationships with professionals of all organizational levels inclusive of public speaking;
Ability to work collaboratively with many different internal and external constituencies.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree is required and SHRM, CAE and/or PMP certification and/or advanced degree is preferred;
7+ years in HR/workforce development in corporate or privately held organizations, association/foundation/non-profit project management experience preferably the last 5 years in foodservice/food/distribution/supply chain/logistics industries or trade/professional association organization;
Proven understanding of recruitment, retention and workforce development issues as they apply to entry level, hourly, salaried and executive roles;
Established record of industry/corporate engagement with educational institutions such as universities, community colleges, trade schools, high schools, professional certification programs, education related grant vehicles, etc.;
Demonstrated experience in identifying value creation opportunities and executing on a plan to ensure the value is capitalized on.
