Arthur Brooks, President of the American Enterprise Institute, has been appointed Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership at Harvard Kennedy School and will serve as a senior fellow at Harvard Business School. At Harvard Kennedy School, Brooks will teach courses on leadership and management, advise students, and develop new initiatives to improve public leadership. The Program Manager, Strategy and Operations, will play a vital role in implementing cutting edge new initiatives to advance the field of leadership and research and manage Professor Brooks' creative portfolio, producing his podcast and developing marketing strategies for his suite of products, including regular TV appearances and support of speeches.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Program Manager, Strategy and Operations, will play a significant leadership role in supporting Professor of the Practice of Public Leadership Arthur Brooks in developing new initiatives, managing his creative portfolio, and supporting complex operations.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
· With direction from Professor Brooks, develop and implement cutting edge initiatives to advance the field of leadership and research, including establishing Harvard as a center of excellence for the competition of ideas and developing an institute to support human flourishing. · Design and lead execution for communications strategy for Professor Brooks creative portfolio: produce podcast and develop marketing strategies for Professor Brooks' suite of products, including regular TV appearances and support of speeches. · With the Faculty Director, identify range of interventions needed to advance new leadership initiatives: oDevelop strategies to use applied learning and research to enhance student learning and skill building around values-based leadership, reconciliation, and leading across difference. oPartner with Faculty Director to develop and steward advisory board of influential high level stakeholders to build support for and engagement in new leadership initiatives. oCreate national research and best practices institutes to understand and promote excellence in compassionate, values-based leadership, reconciliation, and healing division and use that knowledge to provide public policy, social ethics, communications, legal research, analysis, and support to carefully selected individuals, communities and / or organizations. oEngage national and international networks in Professor Brooks' collaborations and support convenings with select collaborators to shape the strategy and launch of new initiatives. · In partnership with the Faculty Director and Alumni Relations and Resource Development staff, develop and implement fundraising plan to sustain new leadership initiatives. · With direction from the Faculty Director, build capacity and infrastructure for new leadership initiatives including hiring relevant staff. · Develop evaluation metrics to measure impact of new leadership initiatives in expanding capacity for compassionate, values based leadership and leadership across difference at Harvard and in communities. · Provide stewardship and reporting as needed.
This position is a fully benefits-eligible term appointment, ending one year from date of hire with the possibility of renewal.

BA/BS required with 4+ years relevant professional experience.Digital marketing, including analytics, online surveys and social media.Creating multimedia content for the web and experience in web design.Demonstrated experience planning and executing events and managing a complex communications portfolio.
Experience building programming, metrics, and engagement plans.Ability to work across teams and with multiple projects and constituencies.Successful candidates will possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize and handle a wide range of tasks simultaneously, good judgement, sense of initiative and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team of faculty, administrators, and students.
Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional evening hours, occasional weekends and travel for capacity building and best practices institutes.
