The DBA-Peoplesoft assists the Department in managing the University's databases. The main focus is on the security, maintenance and deployment of the PeopleSoft application and databases.
The DBA-PeopleSoft installs upgrades and patches to PeopleSoft and other applications and databases. Responsible for deploying new and modified software components as well as resolving database and application performance and functionality issues. Maintains multiple PeopleSoft development environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Plan and execute patching for the PeopleSoft application 2.Manage security for PeopleSoft application and databases including applying critical patches to close security vulnerabilities 3.Plan and perform migration of new and modified software components to the PeopleSoft production environment. 4.Build and maintain multiple PeopleSoft development environments 5.Provide subject matter expertise to the Director of Data Management, Project Managers and other IT Services management. Serve as DBA representative on project teams for database/application implementation and upgrade projects. 6.Support change management procedures; create and maintain standards and documentation. 7.Work with Applications team and vendor technical support to resolve performance and functionality issues 8.Provide evening and weekend on-call support to ensure availability of critical systems 9.Provide DBA support for non-PeopleSoft databases and applications 10.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience working in information technology.
One or more years of experience administering relational databases; preferably Oracle.
Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
Strong knowledge of enterprise application concepts and infrastructure. Working experience and familiarity with PeopleSoft applications preferred.
Working knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating systems and tools
Excellent communications skills in order to interact effectively with peers, functional managers and vendors.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technological concepts.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Oracle DBA certification
Experience supporting PeopleSoft application and databases
Prior experience working in a university environment is preferred
