Department Summary The University of Oregon (UO), a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, is one of only two Pacific Northwest members of the Association of American Universities and holds the distinction of a “very high research activity” ranking in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) holds administrative responsibility for numerous high-profile research centers and institutes and core research facilities. These units provide opportunities for faculty across the university to collaborate on research efforts that are inherently interdisciplinary, and of significant societal importance. The VPRI oversees sponsored research, research compliance, technology transfer, and research development, and represents the UO in national organizations such as the AAU (Chief Research Officers) and the APLU (Council of Research). The VPRI also serves as an advocate and catalyst within the university for expanding the range and impact of UO's research, scholarship, and creative endeavors.

We recently received a $500M gift to launch the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
Position Summary The Director of Capital Project, Space Management, and Facilities will serve as research’s representative for renovation and new construction projects, space planning and allocation, existing facilities maintenance and operations, field officer for the university’s Incident Management Team. The Director is the designated representative for renovation and new construction projects wholly or partially paid for and/or managed by the Office of Vice President for Research and Innovation. This position closely works with a variety of operating units across the university as well as partner units the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation. This position reports to the Senior Associate Vice President for Research and Innovation.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor's degree. • Three years of professional experience in supporting and managing physical space planning and construction projects with organizations having an emphasis on technology / medicine / science / higher education. • Three years of experience in a professional capacity working with construction, planning, and two of the following: physical space management, facility operations/management, continuity planning, project management. • Demonstration of five years related and transferable skillsets such as working experience with building and infrastructure project management.
Professional Competencies • Demonstrated excellent writing and analytical skills. • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders on and off campus. • Demonstrated ability to work independently, set appropriate work priorities and require minimal supervision over regular work activities. • Proven ability to handle conflict and difficult situations in a diverse setting using professionalism and consensus-based decision making. • Demonstrated ability to manage issues that require judgment, discretion, integrity, and attention to detail, respecting confidentiality as appropriate.
