University Relations at West Virginia University is seeking applicants for an University Communications Specialist Senior. The primary responsibility for this position is the execution of a high-level integrated marketing communications plan to a variety of audiences and constituents. They will be responsible for helping to identify, shape, and manage the development of high-quality content including online content, press releases, social media, collateral publications, associated websites, and other appropriate communication vehicles.
In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:
Copywriter/editor for institutional-level communications.
Projects will include student recruitment and general institutional promotion messaging through print, digital, social and video media.
Will be able to write engaging, well-written prose for tasks ranging from long magazine features and brochures to social media posts, emails, billboards, video scripts and advertisements.
Must be able to edit content quickly and efficiently.
Able to meet multiple concurrent deadlines.
Needs to have experience with creating marketing materials in variety of media and formats.
Looking for a person with ability to collaborate on creative teams.
Candidates should be both detail-oriented and creative.
Must have bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related field; master's preferred.
Those selected for an interview must present a portfolio of work.
Bachelor's degree in communications field such as English, Creative Writing or Journalism. Master's degree preferred.
Five (5) years experience in the following areas:
Expert communication, writing, editing and proofreading.
Creating marketing pieces in a variety of media and formats.
Working as part of a cross-functional team with diplomatic skills to relay decisions to non-communicators.
