General skills to include a strong understanding of survey research methodology, including experience with questionnaire design, development of project protocols, project management, data analysis, and report writing.
Experience working with various modes of data collection, including multi-mode projects, and able to determine best fit for client’s research goals.
Experience working with clients to help them define the purpose of the survey.
Assist the client with questionnaire design to develop appropriate tool to gather data.
Work with large and small samples, and has the ability to select the appropriate research sample type and sample size from targeted population as needed for analysis.
Estimate project costs by developing budget with the director; monitor expenditures and tasks to ensure all work is completed, and the project is finished by the deadline and does not exceed agreed upon budget.
Develop training materials and conduct trainings as needed.
Analyze data, determine the findings, making inferences and recommendations based on those findings, and write an executive summary and full report.
Present findings to diverse audiences as requested.
Update timekeeping database to properly track project costs.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or related science field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing research projects and laboratory operations, operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment, performing specialized and difficult analytical and research techniques, and designing research experiments in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program, preferably in the social sciences, three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in overseeing research projects, performing specialized and difficult analytical and research techniques, designing research projects from various research areas, and providing statistical data analysis as well as report writing.
