General Statement of Duties: As part of the University's Marketing Office, the Web & Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating and managing shareable content that can be centrally managed and delivered through various and evolving sets of media. This position is responsible for promoting and increasing public awareness about Worcester State University, as well as monitoring and engaging with audiences and comments with the goal of bringing prospective students to the website for conversion into inquiries and applicants through digital campaign tactics. Relaying news, media and university stories in an imaginative way to keep audiences engaged is required.
The Web & Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the department's web and digital projects and initiatives, updating website content, and coordinating a social media street team and internship program to achieve marketing goals. Assisting with market research, addressing webtickets, coordinating projects, and ensuring the university's messages and visuals are consistent and essential are key responsibilities.
Responsibilities: (E) = Essential
1. (E) Manages content development, creation, curation and promotion for the University's social media platforms to drive interaction, raise visibility and brand awareness. 2. (E) Acts as primary social media community manager; monitors the University's online reputation and conversations across social media platforms and the web, and responds as needed, including evenings/weekends. 3. (E) Creates digital graphics such as banners, custom images, icons, ads and photos for daily social media content and campaigns. 4. (E) Implements social media contests among the Worcester State community to increase engagement and to build a sense of school pride. 5. (E) Acts as coordinator of the Marketing Department's student intern program and social media street team 6. (E) Supports and coordinates marketing research by assisting the Assistant Director of Marketing/Web in gathering and analyzing data on competitors, current trends, and outcomes of marketing campaigns; researches and implements creative and innovative ideas for measuring, analyzing and reporting on current and future digital marketing campaigns 7. (E) Collaborates with marketing staff to support the Assistant Director of Marketing/Web to create and implement an integrated digital marketing strategy to increase online traffic and campaign conversions. 8. (E) Assists the Assistant Director of Marketing/Web with updates to the website and student and faculty portal sites with approved content. 9. (E) Selects and resizes images according to specs for the website, marketing materials, and social media. 10. (E) Creates appealing visual digital and print marketing materials by using aesthetic images that compliment the story and color palette. 11. (E) Research trends in social media, website marketing and best practices, and competitor's materials. 12. (E) Acts as an essential employee, during emergency and weather-related events, as a member of the Emergency Response Team, to assure timely and accurate communication to campus constituencies 13. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students. 14. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan. 15. 1. Bachelor's Degree required, preferably with a concentration in communications, marketing, computer science, business, or other relevant field. 1. 2-3 years' experience with marketing communications, website management, and social media community management 2. Excellent written and oral communication skills 3. Strong interpersonal communications and customer service skills. 4. Experience in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro. 5. HTML experience is preferred. 6. Strong attention-to-detail, writing, editing and proofreading skills. 7. Technical knowledge and experience with website CMS systems; Drupal, Ektron and Wordpress preferred 8. Previous experience within a related marketing, communications or public relations environment preferred. 9. Ability to work under pressure and juggle a number of tasks by setting priorities and meeting deadlines. 10. A high degree of organizational and accuracy skills. 11. Capacity to make decisions using expertise and judgment. 12. Capability to be a self-starter and work independently with minimal supervision.

The firm annual salary for this APA position is: $40,000 - $45,000
