This role works cooperatively with a team of mental health professionals to provide outpatient therapy, medical case management and intake services to clients served by the Child & Adolescent Division.As a Child & Adolescent Therapist, provide individual, group and family treatment that targets improvement in functional impairments. In collaboration with agency psychiatrists and medical secretary will deliver re-assessment and treatment planning services, brief individual crisis intervention or supportive counseling, symptom management skill building groups, and case management and/or community support individual to a primary population of children and their families. Assists the client with receiving psychiatric medication only treatment services. Intake responsibilities include returning calls to potential clients, scheduling all Child and Adolescent mental health assessments, gathering registration and insurance data and initiating all services for all clients up to age 24 at Kenneth Young Center.
Work as Primary Clinician for an identified caseload of clients receiving medication only services
Provide face-to-face mental health re-assessment, as needed, but at least annually for medication only clients.
Provide treatment planning review and modification, as needed, but at least every 6 months for medication only clients.
Provide brief crisis intervention, stabilization services and supportive counseling to medication only clients.
Regularly consult with psychiatrists on specific client-related clinical issues.
Provide outpatient individual, group, and family therapy service to identified clients served by the Child & Adolescent Services Team
Reassess and review treatment progress with clients and their families at proscribed intervals
Involve client and/or family in the development of treatment plan goals, objectives and interventions that address their assessed behavioral health needs
Provide case management services to assist clients and their families with access to needed benefits and services
Provide coordinated care by initiating or participating in client centered consultation with internal and external providers involved in care or services
Provide and/or coordinate intake services to clients, including but not limited to:
Timely response to intake calls with appropriate disposition as outlined in the child and adolescent intake procedure checklist
Provide initial data collection, registration information and brief assessment services
Provide assertive outreach, case management services or crisis services, as needed, to clients not yet assigned
Maintain intake call log and assessment calendar
Collect and organize data spreadsheet as requested. This may include the following: call volume, referral source location of callers, and tracking of failed/cancelled appointments.
Collaborate with the business office as needed to manage insurance authorizations for intake
Provide back-up coverage for Medical Secretary
Assist in establishing effective communication between the Center, other social agencies serving clients, and the Community
Meet agency quality and compliance standard by accurately completing clinical documentation and service reporting in a timely manner
Working cooperatively with other Center teams and programs to maintain smooth continuity of care when cases are shared across teams
Participate in clinical supervision with Supervisor of Child & Adolescent Services and in regular performance appraisals as directed
Understand the different funding sources available to the population served and the requirements for billing each of the funding sources
Complete comprehensive behavioral health evaluations and assessments
Provide treatment/care planning and coordination
Provide treatment/care services
Provide referral and transition services including linkage and discharge planning.
Demonstrate knowledge of child, adolescent and transitioning youth/adult developmental, phase of life and relationship issues, as well as assessment of the impact of these issues on mental and physical health
Provide differential treatment approaches and interventions to address phase of life and relationship issues including individual, couples and group therapy
Demonstrate knowledge of documentation standards and capacity to meet documentation expectations
Masters degree from an accredited college or University in Social Work, Psychology or closely related discipline and be licensed or eligible for certification.
Must have supervised experience in providing counseling and/or psychotherapy services
Must demonstrate knowledge in the areas of diagnostic assessment, long and short term treatment, family systems theory and group treatment
Must have basic computer and keyboarding skills
