The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Research Nurse Specialist to provide direct patient care and project management for pediatric oncology studies. This position is part of a 20 person research team, with one other team member dedicated to oncology research. We are interested in candidates with knowledge of oncology and clinical trials conduct. Our division of pediatric hematology & oncology annually diagnoses over 40 cases of cancer and actively treats and follows over 250 oncology patients. This position will provide input into patient care; facilitate communication between the specialty and ancillary departments and staff within ECU and Vidant; collect, process, and ship patient samples; complete clinical procedures and paperwork related to patient's study involvement; and assist with regulatory compliance. Serves as an advocate and educator for the patient population and other family members and work closely with members of both the research team and clinical staff.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
