This roles reports directly to RLI’s CEO. The Membership Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and managing RLI’s membership and chapters. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of membership and chapter functions including customer service, membership administration, and chapter development. It is responsible for membership growth including new member acquisition, member retention, and member satisfaction, as well as, chapter development in conjunction with RLI’s strategic plan.
Key Areas of Responsibility Include:
Continually seeks new and innovative ways to deliver an excellent membership experience through improved processes and procedures, including new member activation, membership renewals, and updating member profile information.
Answers general questions via the 800 number or the RLI inbox regarding the organization, membership, chapters, and events. Attends to member questions, complaints, and concerns immediately and facilitates excellent resolution.
Works with Marketing Manager to develop and implement comprehensive communications for membership recruitment and retention, including social media, website content and development, newsletters, and emails.
Processes membership applications, reinstatements, designation approval notifications, membership packets, and customer orders with accuracy and within established timelines.
Researches prospect lists and inputs prospect profiles into database. Researches ALC Designation usage violations and reaches out to members/non-members as appropriate.
Works with Operations Manager to manage conference registration process. Assists with National Land Conference and other events as needed.
Continually seeks new and innovative ways to develop and engage RLI’s state and regional chapters in conjunction with RLI’s strategic plan. Helps organize new chapters in states/regions where there is an interest.
Develops and implements a chapter accreditation program to ensure information, education, advocacy and support programs are geared to members’ needs and RLI’s strategic goals.
Works with Education Manager to facilitate chapter education programs and initiatives.
Serves as main liaison with chapter leaders, helping to orient them with their role and with practices for member engagement and effective chapter meetings, events, and activities.
Serves as staff liaison for the Chapter Leaders Council and works with them to plan the Chapter Leader Workshop at the National Land Conference.
Creates the monthly Chapter Newsletter as well as manages the Chapter Leader Resource section of the website. Assists Chapters with updating/creating their chapter website when the chapters use the RLI website template.
Participates as a team player by supporting departmental and organizational operations. Assists with task overflow from other departments as needed.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements and skills:
Bachelor Degree required.
Must have experience in a multi-level non-profit or membership organization and an understanding of the relationship between national organizations and their related chapters.
Minimum of two-years of member development experience.
Ability to travel 3-4 times per year for on-site support activities during conferences, conference planning, and professional development.
Demonstrated project management and oversight abilities. Proven ability to simultaneously manage several complex projects required.
Must be a team player with consensus-building skills and be able to work well with coworkers, members, and third parties.
Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide follow-up.
