The Office of Physical Resources & Planning (OPRP) provides complete and integrated planning and design services, construction management, and building renewal, maintenance and operations management to maintain the physical resources of the FAS campus. To accomplish this mission, OPRP relies on a unique set of IT systems and applications to fulfill its day-to-day business needs.
Duties & Responsibilities
The IT Business Systems Specialist performs a broad range of IT related tasks in support of OPRP's business systems and needs. Primary responsibility is for the growing digital signage system, encompassing room scheduling and information signs. Fulfilling this role requires: management of the servers, software and user accounts; hands-on device configuration and trouble-shooting; maintaining an established vendor/partner relationship; and interaction/coordination with a wide range of stakeholders (building managers, project managers, vendors, HUIT, department administrators and end users.) Duties also include support of facility operations and capital project business tools (budgeting, invoicing, work order management), and space management systems; this support can span the entire range from servers to end-users.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administer desktop, network and application user accounts.
Manage the purchase, setup, and configuration of general office computers and peripherals, mostly in partnership with HUIT's computer refresh/deployment team.
Maintain inventory records for departmental computer hardware and software.
Work closely with HUIT and outside vendors as appropriate.
Augment general IT support (hardware and software related) for desktops, laptops, smartphones, tablets, printers and other devices.
Manage the purchase, setup, and configuration of guard (video surveillance) and mail room computers.
Facilitate configuration of miscellaneous operations-related devices connected to the network.
May also provide supplemental support for HVAC and security applications.
May also provide supplemental support for package management system.

At least 5 years of experience with Windows/Mac operating systems and hardware in a computer support related setting.
Experience working in a networked environment and managing/configuring networked devices.
Experience supporting a wide range of desktop applications including MS Office 365, browsers, etc.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications and technologies.
BA/BS degree or equivalent desired.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a positive customer service orientation.
Ability to interact with both technical and non-technical staff.
Work as a team player with enthusiasm and cooperation.
Familiarity and/or experience with the following is a plus: network security, application and database servers, databases, HUIT support structure.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, perform frequent physical activity, including walking to and from various buildings on campus is required of this position.
