Position Description The Senior Director for Annual Giving manages the design and implementation of fundraising programs that broaden and sustain the base of annual philanthropic gift support by establishing a seamlessly integrated relationship-based pipeline of CSULB alumni, parents and friends. The Senior Director will establish goals, objectives, strategies and activities for campus-wide programs while leading a team of annual giving fundraisers. Manages and evaluates all aspects of the phonathon, direct mail, e-giving, crowdfunding and other annual giving mechanisms to increase funding, broaden support of constituency audiences, and enhance the prospect pipeline. Oversees the Leadership Giving program which cultivates and solicits mid-level contributions for President's Scholars and other university priorities. Identifies and implements new programs and approaches. These opportunities will include, but are not limited to, senior class giving, parent giving, employee giving, and student philanthropy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of best practices for direct mail and telemarketing campaigns, as well as facilitating giving through e-giving and social networking. Knowledge of phonathon software (CampusCall) preferred. Strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to interface with alumni, parents, administrators, faculty, and community. Highly effective supervisory skills as well and excellent project management skills. Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and manage staff and students.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of related experience required. Proven experience in fundraising and/or development operations, preferably in higher education.
Licenses / Certificates CA Driver's License, Class C
Conflict of Interest The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
