The CDL-NYC is a seed-stage program for massively scalable science-based technology startups ("ventures"). The objective of the CDL-NYC is to maximize the probability of success for early-stage science and technology startups. Ventures participating in the CDL-NYC program receive mentorship from serial entrepreneurs & investors, technical advice from leading scientists, and execution support from NYU MBA students.
To support these efforts, NYU Stern School of Business has created an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director, Creative Destruction Lab. The selected candidate will work with the Director and colleagues to strategically develop and execute core programmatic operations. S/he will participate in venture recruiting, venture evaluation/selection, and management progress through the program. The Associate Director will lead initiatives to support the growth and continuous improvement of the CDL-NYC program. S/he will create and execute strategy for operational management of the program, and build systems for the organization and orchestration of the program and related events. S/he will research and develop methods for data collection and reporting and implement best practice to ensure efficiency while maintaining the rigorous standards of the programs. S/he will also manage relationships between startups, mentors, scientists and students. The Associate Director will also manage operations including managing events planning and related logistics.
The selected candidate will have a bachelor's degree (MBA or related graduate degree preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with startups, technology companies, venture capital, accelerators/incubators or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Operational expertise with a proven track record of developing and implementing new processes and procedures is required. Strong analytical ability, understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups across several verticals is also essential. Strong project management and organizational skills is required. Experience working with high performing teams coupled with willingness to work independently is essential. Previous experience founding a startup or advising startup companies is preferred. International travel is required.
